In the 1840s, ten-year-old Amara and her family escape the horrors of slavery through the Underground Railroad, seeking freedom in Oro Township, Canada. But even in the promised land, challenges remain—harsh winters, scarce food, and the sting of prejudice that crosses borders. When Amara befriends Betty-Lynn, a white settler girl, their bond sparks both hope and conflict, testing the limits of friendship and resilience.
